Lake Oconee is a 19,050-acre Georgia Power impoundment was formed by the construction of Wallace Dam in 1979. Lake Varner is a 850 acre drinking water reservoir was constructed by Newton County in 1990-91 and first opened to public fishing in 1992. Hard Labor Creek Lake is a 5,804 acre lake. Lake Jackson is a 4,750 acre impoundment located in Jasper, Butts, and Newton counties in central Georgia and is owned and operated by Georgia Power Company. High Falls Lake, DNR operates this 650-acre State Park lake located north of Forsyth and just east of 1- 75 (exit # 198). Lake Sinclair covers more than 14,750 acres and stretches over Baldwin, Hancock, and Putnam counties.. Clarks Hill (J. Strom Thurmond) is a 7l,535-acre COE reservoir located 30 miles northeast of Augusta on the Savannah River. Black Shoals Lake is a 650-acre reservoir was constructed by the Big Haynes Creek Impoundment Authority to meet water needs for Rockdale County.
