Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park
Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park

This southeast Georgia park is a favorite for picknicking, family reunions and
golf. Picnic tables and shelters surround a small lake where visitors can rent pedal boats
and fishing boats. Docks are available for land-loving anglers, and deer frequently
entertain visitors. The park's nine-hole golf course features unlimited weekday play and
senior citizen discounts. Gordonia-Alatamaha's unusual name comes from the
"lost" Gordonia tree - a member of the bay family - and the original spelling of
the nearby Altamaha River.
