Landowners along the Little Ocmulgee River began donating land for this state park in 1935. With the help of residents, the Civilian Conservation Corps and the National Park Service, roads, buildings and a dam were built and opened to the public in 1940. Today, visitors can enjoy the park's 265-acre lake with beach, nature trail, seasonal mini-golf, 30-room lodge and restaurant. The park's championship 18-hole golf course features a clubhouse, golf pro, unlimited weekday play and senior citizen discounts.
